HPP "Matka" is one of the oldest power plants in Macedonia. It was built in 1938, and was refurbished in 2008 to a nominal capacity of 9.6 MW.
The power plant is owned and operated by EVN Makedonija.
Participants of the tour visited both the old and the new plant. The original equipment in the old plant is not functional, and it serves like a museum. The study tour provided rare oportunity to compare two (similar) technologies, but one century apart: the first being from the beginning of the 20th century, while the new plant is from the beginning of the 21st century.
